Advice On Booking A Great Hotel
Choosing a good hotel is always important, whether you be on vacation or traveling for business. There are plenty of good ones out there but, unfortunately, there are plenty of bad ones mixed in amongst them. A bad hotel can make it almost impossible to enjoy what would otherwise be a very enjoyable trip. There are things that you can do to avoid the bad / poor value hotels though, such as considering each of the following before making a booking…
Location : If you want to make sightseeing and shopping more convenient, it is best to select a hotel in, or near, the center of the town. Town center hotels can be a bit much if you are there for longer than a week though. You can certainly save money by staying in hotels that are a little out of the way, and some will even offer a free shuttle bus to take you to and from the town center.
Cleanliness : Always consider cleanliness and sanitation when deciding which hotel to book. It is not at all recommended to try and save money by staying in a hotel that cuts costs by not providing an environment that is 100% healthy and clean environment. Thinking “it cannot be that bad” is a mistake, because often it is ‘that bad’. As a rule of thumb, you can always expect the larger hotel chains to be the cleanest.
Cost : Hotels are available to meet all budgets, so you will always have options available. Prices can spiral if you are not careful though, so watch out for any hidden costs. Having decided how much you can afford to spend, then evaluate which of the hotels within that price range offers the best value for money.
Booking Online : Pre-booking your room via the Internet means that you get a better price and do not have any forms to fill in on arrival. If you just turn up without pre-booking then they know that you are desperate for a room and that they can charge their full rate. Most hotels accept online bookings up to 24 hours before arrival, so do not worry if you have left your trip planning late.
Reviews / Testimonials : The best way to find out about the pros and cons of a hotel is to read what past guests have to say about it. A hotel review site will give you the full picture, as those leaving reviews and testimonials do not have a vested interest. Typing the name of your hotel plus ‘review’ into Google will tell you everything that you need to know.
Coupons : Coupon books that offer discounts at hotels can be picked up at airports, train stations and travel agents. There are also websites which provide coupons for various hotel chains. You can expect to save at least 10%, and possibly much more. Some restrictions are normally in place, but not always.
